A Week of Rugby, Growth, and Community Spirit at Titans Community Foundation
This past week has been an incredible showcase of everything the Titans Community Foundation stands for – community, development, and a love for the game.
We kicked things off on Tuesday with the start of our Easter Rugby Camp, welcoming young players from across the region. From the very first whistle, there was a real buzz in the air – a strong turnout of enthusiastic boys and girls, eager to learn, compete, and improve. The focus was on fundamental skills: passing, evasion, support play, and communication. It was fantastic to see the energy and commitment on show, as our coaches delivered a fun-filled and action-packed session that set the tone for the rest of the week.
Wednesday marked the second session we’ve delivered to a fantastic group of girls from Penistone College and Trinity Academy at Barnsley rugby club – and their development since the first week has been immense. Confidence was high, communication was clear, and the girls were throwing themselves into every drill with purpose and passion. It’s been brilliant to witness their progression and growing love for the game, and sessions like these continue to highlight just how important it is to keep investing in girls' rugby.
On Thursday, the Easter Camp returned – and this time, it was bigger and better. We were joined by a brilliant group of young players from Rotherham Phoenix, bringing even more talent and enthusiasm to the field. The sessions built on Tuesday’s foundations, with more advanced drills, small-sided games, and loads of encouragement from our coaching team. The players pushed themselves and each other, and the progress made in just a few days was incredible to witness.
Throughout the week, one thing was crystal clear: rugby at the grassroots level is thriving, and weeks like this are key to keeping that momentum going. At Titans Community Foundation, we believe in the power of sport to change lives. Rugby teaches discipline, respect, teamwork, and resilience – lessons that extend far beyond the pitch. Our camps and school sessions aren’t just about creating great rugby players; they’re about helping young people grow into confident, healthy individuals.
In a world where screen time is climbing and physical activity is dropping, our job is more important than ever. By giving children and teens regular opportunities to get active, build skills, and connect with others, we’re investing in their physical and mental wellbeing – and in the future of our community.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, or helped run the sessions this week. Your energy, commitment, and passion make all the difference.
We’re proud to be building something special here in Rotherham. And this week was just the start.
